Care For Common Baby Problems
Every new parent has questions and concerns about the proper infant care necessary to give a baby the best possible start in life. These concerns span problems large and small, ultra-rare to everyday common. Two common problems that just about every parent deals with at some point are colic, and diaper rash. Luckily the proper infant care for these situations is more common sense than unsolved mystery.
Colic
Colic is diagnosed whenever an infant cries inconsolably around the same time of the day for hours at a time. Babies experiencing colic are in uncomfortable with red faces, and balled fists. The crying sessions last for as many as six hours straight. The actual cause of colic is still unknown but some experts feel that it is discomfort caused by an immature digestive system.
Infant Care For Colic
Infant care for colic involves keeping your infant moving as much as possible. Rocking, and cradling both seem to be effective infant care for colic. Try taking a ride in the car; you’ll probably need the fresh air too. I found ‘Belly Cradling” to be especially helpful.
Diaper Rash
Diaper rash is recognized by red, angry, and sometimes puffy irritation on and around the infant’s diaper area. Many things can cause diaper rash including change in diet, use of antibiotics for an infection, diarrhea and sitting in a wet diaper for too long. Occasionally sensitivity to soap, lotion or fragrance will cause diaper rash.
Infant Care For Diaper Rash
The proper infant care needed for a diaper rash varies depending on the type of irritation. Simply keeping the baby clean and very dry should clear up most diaper rashes within a couple of days. I’ve personally found cornstarch to be helpful but if the rash is caused by yeast, cornstarch will encourage the rash to grow.

Best Baby Care Tips
Looking after an infant can be incredibly time consuming and exhausting, but most of all it can be downright scary. Look around any baby forum and you’ll see lots of similar stories. After all, an infant is a tiny little being, and there are so many things that can go wrong that it is no wonder why most people are so paranoid and nervous when it comes to looking after a baby. However, there are certain infant care tips which, if you take into consideration, are going to help you incredibly for when the time comes that you are looking after an infant yourself.
Infant Care Tips
One of the most important infant care tips involves boiling bottles. Everything has to be squeaky clean and sterilized for your baby.
Boiling the bottles properly is especially important, considering that this is what your baby is going to be drinking out of and so you really want to make sure that these are cleaned properly. It really does not matter if you boil them before every use, however you do need to boil them right after you first buy them, before the very first use.
Another of the most important infant care tips is one which involves the changing of diapers. The first thing that you do is pull up the baby’s feet, and then pull their clothing out of the way, and instead of placing the new diaper next to the baby, you should open it and place it right under the baby’s bottom so that it is all ready to go.
Next you need to open up the old diaper, use the diaper to wipe off their bum as much as possible and then use a diaper wipe to clean off the rest. Then you put some powder or Vaseline on their bum, whatever you prefer, roll up the old dirty diaper and use the straps over so that you have taped it into a ball somewhat, and then set it aside so that you can do the new diaper up, and you are finished.

Baby Belly Button Care
Bringing a new baby home from the hospital is wonderful experience for any family. The baby is a picture of perfection with its tiny hands and feet. New parents will find themselves staring in wonder at the infant. One thing that doesn’t look so perfect on the infant is the umbilical cord. When the cord is cut and tied after the baby is delivered the hospital will apply medication which will start the process of the cord drying out and falling off. During the first week or two of the baby’s life the parents will need to provide infant belly button care.
Cleaning The Umbilical Area
The most important aspect of infant belly button care is to keep the area clean and dry. The parents can use rubbing alcohol on a swab to clean around the drying umbilical cord area. The alcohol also will work to dry the cord out. During this time the infant should not be submerged in bath water. It is important to keep the area dry.
As the parents provide infant belly button care they will notice that the cord is starting to separate. There will be a temptation on the parent’s part to pull at the drying cord or to clip it off. It is very important that the parents not do this and that they let the umbilical cord fall off on its own.
Signs Of Infection
While the infant belly button care is being performed the caregivers should be aware of signs of infection in the area. If the area becomes red and inflamed, starts draining pus, blood or fluid, or becomes foul smelling it needs to be looked at by the physician. If the infant starts to run a fever they should be seen by the doctor to see if the umbilical area is infected or what other infection may be present.

Organic baby food has been around since organic baby care products first starting hitting store shelves. Mashed and strained fruits and vegetables that earn the label “organic” are not sprayed with toxic pesticides, are cleaned with purified water and go through less processing than non-organic baby foods.
Organic Clothing
Around almost as long as organic food, organic clothing posses the same qualities as other organic baby care products. Natural materials, most commonly 100% organically grown cotton, lessen the chance of baby’s skin becoming irritated. Word to the wise; buy a size bigger than you need since organic cotton has a tendency to shrink.

Parents know that babies put everything in their mouths, especially their toys. Protect your infant by purchasing organic toys that are made without toxic chemicals or harmful fillers. You won’t have to worry about allergic reaction or skin irritation.
