When thinking of vacationing in the U.S., the first thing that comes to mind is Disneyland. This is the place where your wildest dreams come true, whether you’re a child or an adult. It is often dubbed as the ‘happiest place on Earth,’ where you get to meet your favorite Disney character and enjoy some of the best rides for an unforgettable experience. If you are lucky, you might even get the chance to see the firework shows, the parades, and so much more.

So, if you’re willing to dive deep into the world of Disneyland then check out these amazing facts about the most popular theme park in the world.

1. The First Disneyland Opened in 1955

Located in California, the first Disneyland was constructed in Anaheim and it officially opened its doors on July 17, 1955. This theme park is no ordinary funfair as it took 2,500 laborers to build it and came with a hefty price tag of around $17 million. Though there are five Disneylands in the entire world, the Anaheim Disneyland is the only one that was directly supervised by Walt Disney himself.

2. The Idea Came to Walt Disney in Griffith Park

You are probably wondering how Walt Disney managed to plan and implement a theme park like Disneyland. It is said that after Disney took his daughter to Griffith Park in the ‘30s and ‘40s, he got the brilliant idea to create a theme park based on Disney, the entertainment company.

3. Human Skulls in the Pirates of the Caribbean Ride

The movie is about treasure, pirates, and ships and so, it just wouldn’t sit right for it to not include something weird and totally out-of-this-world. The Disneyland Pirates of the Caribbean ride was decorated with skulls that were taken from UCLA’s medical center. By now, however, there is only one skull left which can be found on the headboard.

4.  Disneyland Only Closed for Three Certain Days

In the entire history of Disneyland, it was only closed due to unforeseen circumstances, on three occasions. The first closure came about after the assassination of President Kennedy, with the second one in 1994 after the Northridge earthquake, and finally, the third closure came about on the 9th of September, 2001.
